The Native Education Conference started in 2010, a combined effort of tribal input and the Wyoming Department of Education. The annual conference helps in building a holistic approach to recognize the culture, history, and traditions of Indigenous students and their families. Rob Black helps coordinate this conference on or near the Wind River Reservation. Black is the Social Studies, Health, and P.E. Specialist on the Wyoming Department of Education Social Standards Team and Native American Liaison for the State Superintendent.
The conference has a wide array of attendees from the Eastern Shoshone, Northern Arapaho and numerous other tribes. The conference is attended by teachers, students, community members, and other interested participants.
