In his constant search for a good woman, Old Man Coyote thinks he’s found the ideal woman. When they make love, Old Man Coyote becomes so excited he begins to howl. When the villagers come to see what is causing all the commotion, they bring light into the room. This is when Old Man Coyote sees his wife in her true form as Old Red Woman.
His reaction marked all wolves from that day forth.
