Crow Treaties of 1851 & 1868 provided for the Crow to have sufficient lands to continue their way of life. But as the buffalo were killed off and white miners & settlers continued to encroach upon their lands, the Crow were forced to live on the Reservation and rely on the meager rations provided by the US Government.
