In Grant’s telling of the origin of buffalo jumps, Highbrow Wolf is aided by the birds of the air who teach him how to lure buffalo into V-shaped traps. Wearing a buffalo head and singing a special song, the shaman lures buffalo into the top of the trap. Piled stone walls and hunters then stampede the buffalo to their demise by pushing them over a steep precipice.
An interesting part of this story is Grant’s explanation of the origin of the name of town of Tensleep, Wyoming.
