Spirits of Canyon de Chelly

Eagles, spirits that move in and out of the rocks, all whisper about what is Katherine Paymella doing here? Together, they help her look after the place. Stories and traditional crafts such as weaving that are taught in the canyon take hold and are remembered. It’s the power of the canyon that make them stick in the mind, as opposed to stories told elsewhere that tend to simply slip away once they are shared. Canyon de Chelly is alive with voices in the wind and of the ancestors. These are the voices that bring the past into the present, greeting those who come to look after this place.  None who come here are alone.
