Ivan PoseyVeteran’s Memorial – The Path of Honor
The Path of Honor Veterans’ Wall in Fort Washakie was built to honor and remind us of those who sacrificed their lives in service to their country and people.
Eastern Shoshone Ivan Posey takes us on a tour, telling us about those who fought in the Korean, Vietnam, First and Second World Wars. He also points out the names of army scouts who helped the US government during the establishment of the Wind River Reservation in 1868. The Veterans’ Day memorial celebration which takes place at the wall features the Color Guard and singing of traditional Honor Songs. A stone plaque depicts a standing buffalo, symbol of reverence for both the Shoshone and Arapaho.
