In this telling of the Navajo myth of the Big Gambler in Chico Canyon, the Gambler feed the other players food spiked with the pulverized seeds of the sacred datura plant. While the players were disposed of their senses, the gambler won all their worldly goods, until eventually, they and their families become enslaved. It was with this army of slaves that the monumental architecture of Chaco Canyon was built.
